Running from March 17 to April 25, the Studio Arts Student Exhibition brought light to the wide diversity of mediums that students work with. From metal hearts to sculptures of big cats, the Studio Arts Student Exhibition portrays the unique imagination and creativity of the college’s students.

Thiang Uk’s pieces are prominent throughout the entire show. With various pieces in both ceramics and painting, Uk placed highly across the board. His three paintings aptly named ‘Part Three’, gave him a blue ribbon. His ceramics piece depicting a man with padlocks for earrings called ‘Layers’ was given second place.

However, there are many other unique pieces such as “Elephant of Erosion” by student Brant Kruger. This multi-medium is in the shape of an elephant. Plastered onto the fabrics are pictures of lost animals. Alongside the large piece are three multi-medium pictures of which depict the elephant in different fashions. Taking a blue ribbon and the title “best in show”, Kruger’s piece causes many gallery viewers to take pause and consider its more philosophical nature.

A giant mechanical looking heart dwarves many of the paintings in size. Located near “Elephant of Erosion,” the eye-catching metalwork piece is simply titled ‘Indsutrial “Life”’ Kristal Shine, the creator of the piece, received a blue ribbon for her efforts.
