“Pineapple Grenade” is the nickname for the Mk 2 frag grenade introduced in 1920 and manufactured with grooves in cast iron resembling the bizarre fruitlet. It replaced the sphere shaped Mk 1 of 1916-1919 for one imperative fact — when lobbed, it would reel away from its target and sometimes roll back to the bunker!
Daytona State student Amber Boutot has a profound affection for the exotic fruit and it was enough to inspire her piece of artwork.
