It’s that time of year again, Spring Break. For most college students, Spring Break is more than the flowers blooming and temperatures rising. It’s about hitting the hump of the semester. “A week” courses are wrapping up and “B week” courses start to begin, all separated by one sweet week of bliss. Hang in there, students, you’ve almost made it!

At Daytona State College, our spring break officially begins on March 13th with classes reconvening on March 22nd. For those students who may have struggled this term, it’s not too late.

As we approach the halfway point, Daytona State student Samantha Marvin expressed how she was able to find success so far this term. “I live by my planner; I know what’s due and when it is due,” said Marvin. Marvin goes on to explain her success comes from being organized and simply planning out her week. “I used to get stressed and worked up, but being able to see what I need to do written in front of me alleviates a lot of my worries,” said Marvin.

If students are struggling with tracking assignments and stressing about deadlines, they too might want to invest in a planner. Many students like Marvin have seen the positive outcomes of using one.

In addition, Daytona State professor Ted Sofianos gave some advice and words of encouragement for students. Sofianos explained, many students, especially freshmen, are not always positive on what degree they want to pursue. “If you’re starting to have trouble figuring it out, talk to a mentor. It can be your parents, family, teacher, or with people in the career field you want.”

For our continuing sophomores, Sofianos urged them to create a finished college flight plan. If they begin to feel lost, they should start to make tangible goals for themselves, join clubs, and become part of the Daytona State community.

So, when “B week” courses pick back up, as Sofianos explained, don’t strive for perfection, that will only take the wind out of your sails. Make sure that you do some self-reflection and decompress. We’ve got this, Falcons!

Denzell Jones Editor in Chief It’s that time of year again, Spring Break.
