The beginning of the year is celebrated as a fresh start for everyone. Whether that change is a new daily routine or picking up a new hobby, we all like a slight change in our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What better way to start that journey than by expanding your musical tastes with a short playlist by students for students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Starting off the list is a set of anthems from incoming student, Damian Orozco. These songs include \u201cSlow Dancing in a Burning Room\u201d by John Mayer, \u201cIt was a Good Day\u201d by Ice Cube, and \u201cMr. Brightside\u201d by The Killers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The song that stands out the most is Mayer\u2019s somber, yet uplifting song that tells listeners to be optimistic during strange times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next set of songs is provided by returning student, Dylan Kane. \u201cMy favorite songs at the moment are \u2018Nebraska\u2019 by Bruce Springsteen, \u2018If Not For You\u2019 by George Harrison, and \u2018Don\u2019t Think Twice, It\u2019s All Right\u2019 by Bob Dylan,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the main highlights of this list is Harrison\u2019s track, in which one cannot help but visualize sitting around a campfire and singing or playing along with friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following batch of songs comes from Embry-Riddle student Angelo Bosinski. This pack of songs is composed of \u201cUpgrade\u201d by Joji, \u201cPara Qu\u00e9 Sufrir\u201d by Natalia Lafourcade, and \u201cLove Galore\u201d by Clairo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Angelo said that he \u201clike(s) them because of the mellow vibe they give me,\u201d which perfectly encapsulates the easygoing mood one gets while listening to these tracks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the last group of songs is chosen by me: my choices are \u201cKyoto\u201d by Phoebe Bridgers, \u201cThe Adults Are Talking\u201d by The Strokes, and \u201cPaper Planes\u201d by M.I.A.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A song that instills a rush of mixed emotions that range from frustration to euphoria is \u201cKyoto.\u201d It wonderfully summarizes the past year for me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The common theme in the quarantine playlist seems to be about going out into the world and seeking out experiences that both challenge and change us. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
