All the activity kept the audience on its toes.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>From \u201cChicago,\u201d the packed theater enjoyed show tunes such as the emotionally tense \u201cAll that Jazz.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The provocatively-dressed dancers were dynamically in sync as they presented the song simultaneously with confidence and erotica.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Later, the Chicago dancers returned to entertain the crowd with \u201cCell Block Tango,\u201d strutting dance moves that held the audience captive.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4915\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4915\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4915\" src=\"http:\/\/www.daytonastateinmotion.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Sassy-2-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"Lorenz Smith as Donkey and Zach Rivera as Shrek in their excerpt of \u201cShrek\u201d in the play \u201cA Night at the Tony\u2019s.\u201d\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.daytonastateinmotion.com\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Sassy-2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.daytonastateinmotion.com\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Sassy-2-150x100.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.daytonastateinmotion.com\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Sassy-2-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.daytonastateinmotion.com\/oldsite\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/Sassy-2-1024x683.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4915\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Lorenz Smith as Donkey and Zach Rivera as Shrek in their excerpt of \u201cShrek\u201d in the play \u201cA Night at the Tony\u2019s.\u201d<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>During the \u201cPippin\u201d segment singers\/dancers dressed up as if they were a part of a magic show, with the lead wearing a shiny red bow-tie and vest during a performance of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cMagic to Do.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>During the portion where Pippin\u2019s grandmother tries to give him advice, the audience was encouraged join in and sing \u201cNo Time at All.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>\u201cLes Miserables,\u201d chockfull of expressive performers and emotional drama, is set in the slums of Paris and included a lot of representative drinking and hanky-panky.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Songs such as \u201cMaster of The House\u201d and \u201cOne Day More\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>riveted the audience, while \u201cI Dreamed a Dream,\u201d sung by Imani Severin, offered a moment of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>heartbreak and grief that stirred up unbridled emotions.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>Up next, was \u201cDreamgirls,\u201d which opened with theatrical spotlights and klieg lights throughout the theater that were a reminder of the disco era.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Three \u201cDreamgirls,\u201d dressed to the \u201cT\u201d in glittery, tight, red gowns, were greeted with shouts and sing-alongs from the crowd.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Part of the segment was an awesome male soloist serenading his girl with \u201cWhen I First Saw You,\u201d that ended with a cuddly hug. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0 <\/span>When Shrek and the Donkey walked out on stage, the crowd roared with laughter, offering the theater a counterpoint to the earlier themes of heartbreak and sadness.
