I had the pleasure of watching them a few times. As President of the College I was so proud. They kept working, kept working,” said Daytona State College President Dr. Tom LoBasso.

An exciting topic that brought up a lengthy discussion was the idea of having the television station on campus air all of the sporting events for all of DSC’s sports teams. During the show promotional material about the college and its programs and services could be played.

“We are hoping to give students (in the Television Studio Production certificate) more experience in sports production, and this would also provide a good opportunity to ask for some sponsorships,” said LoBasso. The school would need funding for cameras and cables, etc. that would be needed out on the field.

LoBasso also announced that DSC now has the $1.2 million that will go towards the Academy of Hospitality Beverage Science program.

“It was really really well received. Not only will it support this new emerging industry of microbreweries, but also create some entrepreneurs who will create their own microbreweries as well,” said LoBasso.

Richard Vollaro, head of Faculty Senate, presented this month’s “Faculty of the Month” award to Larry Wesley. Wesley is a career educator and has more than 32 years of service in the Florida Community College System. He is the Assistant Professor in the school of Student Life Skills. He has been the Director of Minority Student Advocacy, Academic Retention Specialist, Academic Counseling and Advising, and Adviser for the African-American Students Union. An interesting fact about Wesley is he is also the voice of Bethune-Cookman University’s sports radio network!

Lastly Austin Albro, President of the Student Government Association, updated the Board on news regarding SGA. Tuesday, March 22 kicked off a new election season for SGA.

“I think it’s safe to say the Student Government worked pretty hard these last two years to increase the awareness (of SGA),” said Albro. He was also excited to announce that in November of 2016 Daytona State will have its very first homecoming celebrations.

“Student Government will be instrumental in organizing the much talked about inaugural homecoming,” said Albro. He also mentioned that a Mr. and Miss DSC competition will be included.

Sasha Saliba In Motion Staff Writer To kick start the Board of Trustees meeting was the recognition of the many accomplishments done by Daytona State College’s Women’s Basketball team: they have a record of 28 and 3, are Mid-Florida Conference Champions, number two in the FCSAA state poll, number seven Continue reading DSC’s Women’s Basketball team recognized at Board of Trustees meeting→

[1

post-3515","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized
["GET
