In one of its most monumental years for basketball, the Lady Falcons have achieved a 9-0 conference record and is looking to maintain its perfect winning streak.<\/p>\n

The Lady Falcons have held a number 3 position in the Division I rankings for an impressive four weeks, moving up from number 5 in the previous polls. \u00a0The team ranks an astounding number 4 in the nation for average points per game at 88.5 points.<\/p>\n

The Lady Falcons dominated once again at its regular season home game on Feb. 13 against the College of Central Florida, 83-66. \u00a0Student athletes, peers and family attended that DSC Basketball “Pinkout” in support of the Falcons and breast cancer survivors. One mother sang a familiar tune of how the women are succeeding this season, making it obvious that teamwork plays a vital role in the success of the Falcons for the 2015-2016 season.<\/p>\n

Winning is nothing short of a regular practice for the team this season. With an overall record of 25-1 and with just three games left, these young women are nothing short of ecstatic.<\/p>\n

Asked how they improved from their 23-8 season last year, Brittney Chambers, number 23, said the ladies are close on and off the court. \u201cWe all gel together this season, it\u2019s all about teamwork.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to the players, they have accomplished a ton of amazing things this season, including overcoming the absence of their head coach, Cal Cochran, who is out with a broken ankle this season. In addition, they are welcoming\u00a0 their new assistant coach, Nakia DeBlanc, who took over and helped lead the ladies all the way to the top of the totem pole.<\/p>\n

DeBlanc replaced former assistant coach Brittany Young, who assumed a position as assistant woman’s basketball coach at Stetson University. DeBlanc is a former collegiate standout at North Carolina A&T in Greenboro, N.C.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe all work on each other during practice. We\u2019re constantly pushing each other to be better. It\u2019s been an adjustment for everyone without Coach Cal this season, but we adjusted. We always adjust and keep working,\u201d said number 3 point guard Stephanie Oramas.<\/p>\n
