And while trick-or-treating is the traditional way of celebrating the holiday, for those who worry there are safe alternatives that are family-friendly and open to the community. Here is a short list of upcoming events around Volusia County:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Daytona Beach<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nDaytona State College SGA will host its Fall Festiva on: Thursday, Oct. 25, from 3 to 9 p.m. in the ECHO plaza at the main campus, 1200 W. International Speedway Blvd. Admission is free for all members of the community. There will be games and activities such as face painting, an obstacle course, a movie screening, multiple contests, and, of course, candy will be involved. For information, call 386-506-3907.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Deltona<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe city will sponsor a Halloween Dance and Costume Contest on Friday, Oct. 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Deltona Sunshine Senior Center. For more information, call 386-574-0060.<br \/>\nThe city&#8217;s annual Spooktacular Halloween Event will also be on Oct. 26 and 27 at Dewey O. Boster Sports Complex. Admission is free and there will be a Haunted Pirate Ship, Haunted Trail, Hayride, contests, and other games and prizes. Call 386-878-8500.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.714285714; font-size: 1rem;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>De Leon Springs<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nA popular annual offering is the Haunted Trails at DeLeon Springs State Park. This year it will be Oct. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. Pumpkin decorating, games, refreshments, treat stations along the haunted trail and more will keep the little ones occupied. Admission is $3 for ages 6 and up. Please call 386-985-4212.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>DeLand<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nMonsters on Mainstreet is set for Oct. 31, from 6 to 8 p.m. Admission is free and there will be trick-or-treating at local businesses along Woodland Boulevard.
