The team finished second in the LPGA International and in the Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational, and fourth at the Junior Classic. All those tournaments were held in Florida.

Additionally Tiffany Chan, one of the team members, ranked 30th in the Amateur Golf Rankings this year. In the last 10 years, the team has won seven NJAA Team National Championship titles.

The sophomore players received and accepted offers from schools during the early signing period on Nov. 12. It was the “first time in the history of the program,” said Coach Laura Brown, that all of the team’s sophomores signed early.

Starting fall 2015, Chan, Courtney Cobb and Whitney Stevenson will be attending the University of Southern California, the University of Northern Florida and Virginia Tech, respectively. Stevenson said she is excited about attending her future school and added, “I wouldn’t be able to get there without the Athletic Department – Coach Laura, she’s great.”

The team remains in a very positive mental state as it heads into its spring season. The victory in members’ latest tournament, the Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational in Bradenton, gave the team confidence for its upcoming competitions. A few of the Lady Falcons plan on practicing and participating in the Dixie Women’s Amateur this winter in between semesters as they prepare for spring. Participating in tournaments keeps the players competitive with one another, they said.

For them, the greatest challenge will be balancing academics and athletics. They will miss 10 academic days, some of which will be on Daytona State College’s finals calendar. Still, the women are confident in their collective skills as a team that can overcome the challenges of tournaments and balancing school.

Andrew Adie In Motion Staff Writer The Daytona State College Women’s Golf team finished the fall season on Nov. 4, leaving a solid foundation for its upcoming spring semester.
