Score Chapter 87 \u2014 a Volusia County nonprofit business consulting group \u2014presented a two-hour seminar on \u201cHow to Use Video Marketing to Attract New Customers\u201d in mid-September. The event was part of an ongoing series of workshops aimed at small businesses.<\/p>\n
Free and open to the public, it was presented by local video marketing consultant Ken English, who also is owner of Media Mojo Guy and Daytona Beach Video Marketing.<\/p>\n
According to Score representative Bill Roy, English offered give the workshop as part of \u201ca continuing series of how to use social media to improve marketing skills.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roy has been a volunteer with Score for about six years and is Vice President of Client Services.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to try to provide people as much information as we can on how to run their business and how to run it effectively.\u201d<\/p>\n
Score provides workshops for start-up businesses as well. For example there are frequent workshop on writing a business plan, how to start a business and how to use marketing. They also offer financial and sales seminars.<\/p>\n
September\u2019s workshop was a nuts and bolts presentation on putting together a video. A video that can then be put on a company website or used to advertise services through social media. After the workshop, English said, \u201cVideo is really where it\u2019s at because video indexing is better than anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cIndexing,\u201d he said, is when people go on Google and search for certain keywords. The links provided for videos can offer instantaneous exposure for your company.<\/p>\n
The process is surprisingly easy with the right software, he said. The program recommended by English is Animoto, which he said is user-friendly and offers beginners an easy method to assemble a marketing video.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnimoto is a digital image to video platform. I\u2019m going to show you how to produce the video with digital pictures text and a little bit of music,\u201d English explained to the audience of some 200 people. English did just that through the course of about 45 minutes.<\/p>\n
Although most of this seminar was on the process of producing video, English did touch on how to use it for marketing purposes. He spoke about social media such as Facebook, but really prefers YouTube. He also explained how Google uses key words and analytics.<\/p>\n
English explained, \u201cHaving the one video and not distributing it is not very effective. You really need to do that and that\u2019s a whole other conversation. That\u2019s why I didn\u2019t really get into that in this presentation today.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rick Berfeild, an attendee who is starting a new business commented, \u201cYour competitors are probably not using this technology and if you can get ahead of the curve it\u2019s going to help you.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bernie Mexicotte a local business owner said of the workshop, \u201cI can see the value in this and I want it,\u201d adding that \u201cI didn\u2019t realize all that stuff is that simple.\u201d<\/p>\n
Overall, attendees agreed, the workshop was another one of many successful programs delivered by Score. The next program on marketing through social media will be held on Oct. 9.
