It is an academic assistance program that increases student performance and a peerfacilitated out-of-class study group that incorporates study skills with course content. This program targets high-risk courses rather than high-risk students. High-risk courses are traditionally difficult due to their content. These women are distinguished by their unique styles and their commitment to subjects of continuing relevance in Mexico. Other than Tina Modotti, who was born in Italy, and Kathy Vargas, an American of Mexican heritage, the other four women were born in Mexico.
