Nunamann Hall, also known as Building 200, was the setting this year for Daytona State College\u2019s annual Cultural Arts Festival. By 11:30 a.m., there were seven stations offering a variety of foods from around the world, a live band on stage playing jazz and about 100 students gathered around to sample the diverse offerings available at this year\u2019s festival. The bevy of foods available consisted of light samplings from India, Mexico, Puerto Rico, France, Greece, the Orient and Italy, courtesy of the Olive Garden.<\/p>\n
In additional to a diverse array of cuisines, various musicians took to the stage, one after the other, and in between sets, traditional Chinese dances were performed. After a jazz trio, there were a pair of Hawaiian guitarists, accompanied by two pompom equipped dancers in grass skirts, and then a Caribbean quintet, that also doubled as a Latin\/Salsa band. That group also brought with them a dance troupe of energetic young students, who coerced and otherwise convinced members of the crowd to join in the festivities.<\/p>\n
By 1 p.m., the scheduled end time, the crowd began to dwindle and booths were packed up, as crowd members were enticed away by the sudden appearance of Microsoft representatives with vague promises of swag in Building 500.<\/p>\n
