With these options, multiple money-saving opportunities also exist, thanks to Carrie Dibble, Director of Daytona State College Dining Services.

Dining services at Daytona State have changed, as the times have, and so have prices.

“The dining options have been growing and as costs have risen, we have been looking for ways to provide value to faculty, staff and students. Over the years it has evolved.” Dibble said.

The first deal she created was a rewards program in the form of a sub club loyalty card. This changed over the years to become the Falcon Combo Club that exists on campus today. This card rewards frequent purchases, giving one free combo meal after the holder has purchased nine, similar to the rewards programs at Starbucks and Coldstone Creamery.

There is also a card for coffee that works the same way. For every nine hot beverages purchased the holder receives a free drink and is valid at the campus’s coffee shops, in the Library and in the Mori Hosseini Building.

Daytona State also offers a meal plan to students year ‘round; something not offered at most state colleges. There are three official meal plan options: a 25 block plan for $150; a 15 block plan for $90; and a Summer Combo Plan for $60. These meals offer combos for roughly $6, a savings of one to two dollars. These options are loaded onto the college’s student ID cards and can then be redeemed at the Smart Market Café in the Lenholt Student Center.

If these plans are a bit too expensive to invest in, there is a further discount in the Falcon Freedom Funds DCB Plan. This allows students to put as much money into a plan as they desire and then purchase meals and food at the Market Café at a 5 percent discount from normal prices.

Dibble herself is responsible for the meal plans available at Daytona State and is not afraid to change and adapt as time progresses. In her own words, these programs were created because “We wanted to make sure everyone had a deal.”

For further information, students can consult the “Dining on Campus” pamphlet, available in the Smart Market Café in the Lenholt Student Center, Building 130.

Scott Turner In Motion Staff Writer There are many locations on Daytona State’s main campus where students and faculty alike can find a meal.
