Daytona State Associate Professor Jayanti Seiler met with fellow faculty members and fans during a “Art Speaks: Voice From the Community” discussion and book-signing in late March to promote her new fine art work “Of One and the Other.” Seiler uses her art to advocate for the ethical treatment of animals. Her photography is a vehicle to incubate discussion, broaden awareness and ultimately bring about change. She has generated wide-ranging and provocative photographic art for over 20 years. This year, she released a first edition fine art book of her series “Of One and The Other,” which captures the complexity of human-animal relationships.      She received her Master of Fine Arts Degree from the University of Florida and her Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her photography has gained national and international recognition in publications including The New York Times and has exhibited at the Southeast Museum of Photography, Chiang Mai University Art Museum in Thailand, Harvard University, Museum of Contemporary Art Georgia, and Washington State University. In 2011, she was a Guardian ad Litem or GAL in Alachua County Florida, a court-appointed advocate that represents children’s rights in the foster care system.
