Dancers excel

A regular rite of spring, the annual dance theater showcase known as Dancescapes took flight at the News-Journal Center.

The show featured a variety of different songs and dances showcased original choreographic works by faculty, guest artists and students.

“We started in the Fall semester to prepare for the Spring show,” said dance instructor Kevin Veiga. “We rehearsed four hours a day, twice a week and we also encouraged them to dance on their own.”

The performers included students enrolled in various dance classes at DSC and was also open to students interested in extracurricular dance. The first auditions took place last fall and there was a second audition at the end of the semester.

“It took months of practice,” said performer Rosetta Brinson. “Every dancer has different techniques and also has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it was very versatile. I got a lot out of the experience.”

The annual dance theater showcase brought to life the creativity and talent of DSC’s students.
