Following on the heels of last semester’s comedy show, “Call It Improv,” this year students are digging into the lives of artists, revealing the inner workings of their excellence in loud, colorful and or lyrical expressions. From pencils to pickguards, their series is titled “CreARTtivity” and will shed light on the minds and lives of artists hidden behind the blank canvases and distorted guitars.

Musicians, sculptors, painters, poets and other forms of artists will be guests on “CreARTivity” aiding DSC’s viewers in their understanding of each creator’s preferred medium.

The students are held responsible for the talent brought in and interviewed on the show, as well scouting and hunting down creative minds. As of now, “CreARTivity” has eight artists that include a woodcarver, street painter and ice sculptor.

Chelsey Austin, a Mainland High School graduate and artist out of Melbourne, uses chalk to make concrete come alive and is scheduled to come on the show in April.

Briley Barrett, student producer, says she is excited to be working with all the different artists and new classmates this semester.

“I’m excited to see how the show turns out,” Barrett says.

Since this is Barrett’s last semester with the TV production class, Barrett is also thrilled to “Get to produce my own episode.”

Other students are equally enthusiastic about the series as well.

Jeremiah Detablan says the show is a “Funky and creative idea.”

The first show airs Feb. on Channel 15 at 7:30. Re-runs can be seen at 9:30 a.m. Sundays.
