Imagine an intimate theater setting where the audience completely encircles the stage. The view is unobstructed as flat screens project the performance from every angle. Add a multi-platinum recording artist whose goal is to interact with every fan.
This vision will become reality on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. at the Amway Center when Josh Groban and Judith Hill arrive to wrap up their 2013 “In the Round” tour.
The pair has been captivating audiences across the country for the past six weeks and is completing the tour here in the Southeast.
In July, Groban announced Hill would be joining him on his fall U.S. tour shortly after she was eliminated from NBC’s hit show “The Voice.” Though Hill earned her chops singing backup with the likes of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and Elton John, this is the first time she is featured in concert as a solo artist.
BB Gun Press concert promoter Shannon Cosgrove said, “Judith’s musical journey has brought her a part in the critically acclaimed film ‘20 Feet From Stardom,’ which tells the true story of the backup singers behind some of the greatest musicians of the 21st century.”
Ms. Hill is currently recording her debut solo release that is due out later this year. Hill is hoping the “In the Round” tour will hook music-junkies on her unique style, which she calls soul-funk, as she incorporates pop beats with organic throwback elements of soul.
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine, Hill said that she likes to “bring the funk, and world music, and different elements” into each performance. The Orlando audience is sure to hear performances of her signature tune, a duet of “The Prayer” and “Remember When it Rains” with Groban, best known for his hit “You Raise Me Up.” In less than a decade, Groban has sold more than 20 million albums.
Tickets, priced from $47.50 to $97.50, are available for purchase online at ticketmaster.com or over the phone at 800-745-3000. After Orlando, the tour travels to Houston and will conclude in Dallas.
