This month the Student Government Association is organizing its main event for clubs at Daytona State College – Club Wars.

Club Wars is an annual event, always held in the middle of fall semester. This year promises to be bigger and better with new games and activities, according to SGA organizers.

SGA senators work hard to make the event enjoyable for all students. The Chair of the Club Wars event, Senator of Student Activities Welen Wang, says, “Club Wars is a collection of events and activities that each club is able to participate in to compete against one another to see which one has the best club spirit.”

Club Wars will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 13. There will be seven main events and something for everyone. One of the activities is Thunderbird, or “hacky sack with a group of people,” as Wang explains. “Harry Potter” fans will be happy to participate in Quiddich, based as closely as possible on the actual game. People who don’t like sports can enjoy the Rhythm Game, where they will be asked to play the famous “Cups” song, or Karaoke. Other events include Tug-of-War, a Cart Race and Trivia.

Senator of Athletics, Justin Gadrim, is responsible for appointing and training volunteers. He explains that each event is going to be held in the place which the head volunteers or “the directors” for each game will find the most appropriate. So, events will be going on all over campus and the exact places will be announced later.

“The event is going to be a great bonding experience between students,” Gadrim says, “We are trying to raise the school spirit and clubs are the main extracurricular activity being done within the school, other than sports.”

Club Wars are only for people who are a part of a club, but it is still not too late to enter. Daytona State College needs more students to be aware of the extracurricular activities existing on campus. Clubs are a great chance to meet new friends and try new things.
